Following the trip from Overlanding pals Christian and Sybil (BennyGoesOverland) to the mountains in Albania in spring this year where they dropped off children’s clothes at a small but very active mission church in Fushe Arrez – we decided we’d like to help as well!
Now living mainly in the Netherlands due to BREXIT, we got in touch with some new friends who kindly helped with surplus apparel – again a big DANK JE WEL to Max:
We also asked some of the families in our park if they had toys they’d be happy to donate (as kids do need clothes but toys are like little friends whose company the small children would cherish).
Much to our surprise EVERY family we asked gave generously – children selected toys they wanted their poorer Albanian friends to have – some were almost new like the lovely blue-eyed Husky:
As we could not get a ferry ticket from Ancona to Durres during our time of travel we found a solution and delivered our big IKEA bags to Switzerland for Christian to take them to their final destination on his new journey to Albania a few weeks later.
It was a hot day and Sybil treated us to a fun lunch at their beautiful Swiss house before our journey in Mister Benz continued to Liechtenstein for the night on our way to Filzmoos in Austria.
Christian sent us these fun videos as a reminder of our meeting:
READY TO GO!
And a few weeks later Christian arrived in Fushe-Arrez with lots of well-needed clothes for the 55 children and a soft toy for everyone in Benny’s fully stacked “big belly”. Sister Gratias was full of joy when taking possession of Christian & Sybil”s and our combined donations:
Together with Brother Andreas and Brother Christian this wonderfully energetic and spritely lady is running the Capuchin Mission.
All good things come in threes:
Our special thanks to Christian & Sybil of BennyGoesOverland – true friends!
